Where Luke Eats

Luke shares his favourite spots in Surrey
Chef Luke Spier runs the kitchen at William IV, the popular 16th-century pub tucked away in Little London, Albury.
He has worked across Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, at Simon Rogan’s seminal restaurant Roganic, and most recently at the Clock House in Ripley, where he won a Michelin star.
It’s no surprise William IV has become a firm favourite among Surrey Foodies; in fact, it’s consistently one of the most recommended places in my inbox.
Take a look at their menus here.
Let’s jump into Luke’s top five picks.
Best Restaurant in Surrey
Lebnani — Reigate

From top to bottom: Batata harra, roasted cauliflower arnabit, sesame seed falafel and roasted halloumi.
“Amazing and authentic Lebanese food. Great relaxing vibes and atmosphere. The room is full of character and you can really sense the care and attention to detail coming from the kitchen.”
Best Pub in Surrey
The Merry Harriers — Hambledon

Chicken schnitzel with wild English asparagus, jersey royals and parsley butter.
“The type of pub that I wish was my local. It’s cosy, full of character, and there’s always a great atmosphere. Great beer selection, high-quality cooking and service.”
Best Curry in Surrey
Walton Spice — Walton on the Hill

The Chana Masala at Walton Spice.
“It has been my go-to curry house for years. My order has never changed (don’t judge) and I have no intention of doing so. An easy walk for me and fantastic for a curry night with friends. It is also BYOB.”
Best Pizza in Surrey
Monte Forte — Dorking

The burrata pizza at Monte Forte.
“Other than IV Pizza, I would say Monte Forte is the best pizza I've had recently. Great Neapolitan-style pizza. I have been to a few sites and all restaurants have a fantastic atmosphere. They are also serving them at Dorking Wanderers matches, so great to eat while watching football.”
Best Value in Surrey
Meat the Greek — Guildford

Souvlaki pitta at Meat the Greek
“Very popular in the centre of Guildford. Not under the radar but for the consistency and value for money it is fantastic. No fuss, tasty gyros. That’s all you need.”
Big thanks to Luke Spier @ William IV!
