Where does Ben like to eat in Surrey?
Ben Marriott is the founder, chef and oven master behind Bucci Pizza – the popular pizza truck that operates out of various spots around southern Surrey.
Far from your standard “floppy-bottomed” Neapolitan, Ben is very much doing his own thing. His pizza is fermented for six days using a high protein, micro-milled flour, resulting in crisp-bottomed slices.
I popped down to meet Ben at Grayswood Village Green a few months back and tried his delicious creations for myself. Despite the rain absolutely bucketing down, the van was bustling with orders.

“It’s close to my heart as it has been reopened by the community on a voluntary basis. With so many pubs being forced to close it is a real good news story and they do a pretty cracking Sunday lunch and One Pot Thursday.
“Honourable Mention: It’s technically just outside Surrey, but The Horseguards Inn in Tillington is a fantastic pub that’s built on 20 years of hard work. It’s top-tier quality on the plate, and yet they manage to keep things reasonably priced.”

"It’s tough to pick just one for this, to be honest. Both Olivo and Positano over in Guildford are really pretty spots that I always enjoy. They are two traditional restaurants that have been around for a while, just quietly doing their thing and doing it well."
